Come and Make a Difference

Come and Make a Difference

Seeing nothing but Trump’o’riffic news? Can’t fully engage with “brexit” (not a real word btw)? Feeling angry, frustrated with the world and don’t know what to do about it?

Wondering how displaced people fair in a system that is not very welcoming of those seeking asylum and refuge?

Want to find out what you can do to support the Human Rights of those struggling in a darkening world?

We can help.

Amnesty International works to protect men, women and children wherever justice, freedom, truth and dignity are denied. Find out more here.

As a global movement of over seven million people, Amnesty International is the world’s largest grassroots human rights organisation. They investigate and expose abuses, educate and mobilise the public, and help transform societies to create a safer, more just world. Amnesty has received the Nobel Peace Prize for their life-saving work.

“We are ordinary people from across the world standing up for humanity and human rights.”

You can join Amnesty here. You can also be a part of a local group. If you live in the Wakefield area (or further away!) then you are welcome to come to one of our meetings.

It’s not all dressing up in animal costumes, or assailing the nearest embassy! Most of the time we engage with events that draw people together, writing letters of support or protest, encouraging dialogue, raising awareness and hopefully making a difference.

We meet every third Wednesday at the Quaker Meeting House in Wakefield (see side-bar). We look forward to meeting you and sharing your vision for a more just world.

TOGETHER WE ARE POWERFUL
